Indian Cinema has been around for more than 100 years now. It has inspired and entertained people so much that people cannot imagine their lives without films. Audiences hugely admire the performance, music, and dance sequences shown in Indian movies.
However, when this admiration turns into obsession, the difference between reel and real-life starts to look blurred. The trend is evident in the South Indian film industry, where fans are even ready to lay down their lives for their favorite superstars. Be it Rajnikanth or Jayalalitha; the list keeps growing by the day.
The South Indian film industry began its journey from Madras in the 1920s. At the time, it was the only destination for Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil, and Kannada movies.
With time though, people started categorizing films by their respective regional languages. That was the time the Telugu film industry rose to prominence. Today, the South Indian film industry is divided into Kollywood (Tamil), Tollywood (Telugu), Sandalwood (Kannada), and Mollywood (Malayalam) film industries.
The Telugu film industry shifted base to Hyderabad in the early 1990s. Large production facilities such as Ramoji Film city, Annapurna Studios, and Ramanaidu studios ensured people associated with the industry found employment and produced prolific movies.
The Telugu film industry’s rapid growth is an outcome of the exceptional performances rendered by its stars. Actors such as N T Rama Rao, Savithri, Gemini Ganeshan, and many more remain etched in Telugu audiences’ hearts forever.
All was going quite well till the Covid-19 crisis arrived. The pandemic jolted the industry badly. It left completed productions without any viewers and left half-finished movies hanging midway. It was at a time like this that the OTT platforms came to the industry’s rescue.
Aha, an OTT platform that caters solely to Telugu audiences, provides on-demand online video streaming services. It allows viewers to watch uninterrupted shows and Telugu movies full online and provides expert movie reviews.
Continuing its tradition, Aha brings you a review of the Telugu film Arjun Suravaram.
Storyline
The film’s plot revolves around Arjun Lenin Suravaram (Nikhil Siddarth), an investigative journalist who works for a small-time television channel. Kavya (Lavanya Tripathi) is Arjun’s girlfriend. The other characters of the movie include Arjun’s friends Rambabu and Balaji (Satya and Vennela Kishore), Arjun’s father (Nagireddy), Balaji’s father (Posani Krishna Murali), and the villain (Tarun Arora). Suddenly, Arjun finds himself in the middle of a massive fake certificate scam. He comes out on bail and decides to take things into his own hands to bring down the person responsible.
All the characters in the movie have played their parts well. Surya’s cinematography helps to lift the film a notch higher. The music director, Sam CS, has done a decent job with the songs and background scores.
However, what stands Arjun Survaram out are its thrills, a well-narrated story, and of course, Nikhil Siddharth’s performance.
All in all, the director, Santosh, has ensured the audiences stay hooked till the very end and has turned the story into a movie that deserves a watch.
